Sugradh received generous funding in 2001 from the Irish Youth Foundation and the People in Need Trust to run fifteen one day workshops around the country on Community Play Development. The workshops brought together the local authorities, community groups and service providers (crèches, Health Boards, County Childcare Committees etc.) to work out a local play policy, as required by the National Children's Strategy, as well as action plans for the development of playgrounds and playschemes.

Areas covered included the value of play in child development, types of play areas, insurance and maintenance, involving children, setting up playschemes and working together. If you would like a workshop in your area and can get 12 to 20 or so people together, and preferably involve the Department of Community and Enterprise of the local authority, then Sugradh will be able to put on a workshop for you.
